Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 29, 2026
MindMatch ("MindMatch," "we," "us") helps people find and connect with mental health providers and treatment programs. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), date of birth, and state of residence.
Matching preferences. The provider types, specialties, therapy approaches, insurance, budget, session format, zip code, provider gender and languages you choose. These may reveal information about your health needs, so we treat them as sensitive.
Activity. Which providers you like or pass on, your matches, and messages you exchange with providers.
Provider and facility information. Professional details, license numbers (used for verification and not shown publicly), practice information, photos, and contact details supplied by professionals.
Technical information. Basic log data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, used for security and to keep the service running. If you choose "Use location" on the Higher Care page, your browser shares approximate coordinates, which are converted to your state and not stored.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account and verify you are 18 or older.
- To show you providers licensed in your state and rank them by fit.
- To let providers you match with see your first name, state and stated preferences, and to deliver messages between you.
- To verify provider licenses and review facility listings before they are published.
- To respond to support requests and enforce our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your preferences or messages for advertising.
Who can see what
Your preferences, date of birth and email are never shown to other users. A provider can see your first name, state and preferences only after you like their profile, and can read messages only in conversations you are part of. MindMatch administrators can access data when needed to operate, secure and support the service.
Service providers
We use trusted vendors to host the website and database, authenticate users and deliver email. They process data only on our instructions and under confidentiality obligations.
Health information
MindMatch is a discovery and introduction platform, not a healthcare provider. Messages on MindMatch are not a substitute for your provider's own secure clinical channels. Please avoid sharing detailed medical history, diagnoses or insurance member IDs in messages; share those directly with your provider once you begin care.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Preferences (clients) or your dashboard (providers and facilities); this permanently removes your profile, preferences, matches and messages. Limited records may be kept where required by law or to resolve disputes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. Contact us through the support form to make a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Security
We use encryption in transit, database access controls that restrict every record to the people who should see it, and license verification for providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
MindMatch is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app.
